California is burning. When asked about the progress of the fires the "Terminator" said that there was nothing but good news. Funny but he is right. No one has died. I am not hearing stories of rapes, con-men/women, wasted resources, corrupt cops looting local merchants or hysterical mayors blaming everyone but them selves. A story this morning on CNN.Com likened the tent city in Qualcom Stadium to a county fair. A far cry from the Super dome.
950,000 people have been evacuated from San Diego. I guess disaster relief plans can work as long as the people do not predate each other, the politicians are not too busy having their own families flown out via misappropriated government helicopter, or having the FBI move your congressional office for you including the stolen refrigerator full of bribery cash.
This question begs to be asked: Maybe Katrina was the way it was because New Orleans is the way it is. I know there is a big difference in the two types of disasters but I believe human nature transcends these events. Maybe Katrina was not the governments fault? The people of San Diego seemed to avert disaster on their own.
So, as Ron Burgundy would say "Keep it classy San Diego."
